THE DEI JOURNEY CONTINUES
Growing up for me was about equal treatment and respect to all.
As I progressed in life and in jobs, I heard comments from the Late Boomers and Gen Xs, who were nearing retirement i.e., 58 years, that appraisals are going to be biased. The organization feels that that we are growing old and will not be able to contribute much, hence they will not want to invest in us. A sense of disengagement had set in. Followed series of observations on some not getting equal opportunities at workplace due to gender, religion, culture, disabilities etc.
This was an eye opener which led me to the path of DEI.
I felt that to create a better world, innovate and co-exist, it is so important to provide equal opportunities, safe and an unbiased environment to all irrespective of gender, race, ethnicity, age, various types of communities, disabilities etc.
While observation and learning from the environment continues, certifications help in nudging one towards a right path. Thanks Maithily and GPTW team for the learning opportunity.
